What Affects the Price?
Several factors determine the final cost of your key or lock work. We're always upfront about pricing — here's what influences it.
Vehicle Make & Model
Premium and luxury brands often use more sophisticated key technology and security systems, which means more complex programming. A BMW or Mercedes key typically costs more than a Ford or Vauxhall key — but still far less than the main dealer.
Key Technology Type
A basic metal blade key is the cheapest to replace. Transponder chip keys are mid-range. Smart/proximity keys with keyless entry are the most expensive — the hardware alone costs more, and programming is more involved.
All Keys Lost vs Got a Spare
If you still have a working key to copy from, it's faster and cheaper. If all keys are lost, we need to access the vehicle's immobiliser system directly (all-keys-lost programming), which takes more time and specialist work.
Time of Day / Day of Week
Standard pricing applies during business hours (Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm). Emergency callouts at night, on Sundays, or on bank holidays may carry a small premium — we'll always tell you upfront.
Your Location
We don't charge a separate callout fee, but for locations further from Bridlington the price reflects the additional travel time. The fixed quote we give you includes everything.
Additional Work Needed
Sometimes a key problem reveals another issue — a faulty ignition, a damaged lock, or an immobiliser fault. We diagnose these before doing any work and quote separately if additional repair is needed.
